God's Not Dead - A Powerful Movie with a Talented Cast

Willie & Korie Robertson co-star in the film
We live in a world where the Christian faith is being put to the test routinely; Christians are condemned around the world every day.  I find it truly exiting that there are four faith-based movies that are being released within two months of one another: Son of God (Feb. 28th), God's Not Dead (Mar. 21st - in theaters now), Noah (Mar. 28th) and Heaven is for Real (April 16th).  After seeing God's Not Dead, I would say if you are not a Christian or you are on the fence, of these movies I just mentioned, this one may be the one you want to see, especially if you missed Son of God (which was incredible-go back and watch it).

Shane Harper as Josh Wheaton
Shane Harper (of Good Luck Charlie & High School Musical 2 fame) plays Josh Wheaton, a college freshman whose beliefs are put to the test by his atheist Philosophy professor.  As the movie plays out, Josh must defend his faith in front of his entire class and prove the existence of God, while Professor Radisson, played by the incredibly talented Kevin Sorbo, throws contradicting arguments at him
Kevin Sorbo as the Professor, threatening Josh
like darts to discredit his theories.  What unfolds could be likened to a classic showdown of good vs. evil.  We have a Christian student with a Bible trying to convince a room full of college kids that God is real, and an angry atheist that will do anything to convince all of them that God is Dead; not real.

Michael Tait, Lead Singer for Newsboys
During the film, several side stories are taking place; some heart-wrenching and sad (bring tissues), some with people doubting God's existence and some very uplifting.  An appearance by the super-popular Willie Robertson of Duck Dynasty and his beautiful wife Korie will surely excite fans of the
Newsboys about to pray with a sick woman
show.  The brilliant and incredibly talented Newsboys, who not only give a concert performance but have speaking parts and pray for a cancer-stricken woman, really add a lot to the movie.  The power experienced through Christian music in this film really shined through for me.

Other co-stars in the film include Dean Cain, David A.R.
Hadeel Sittu as Ayisha
White, Trisha LaFache, Paul Kwo, Hadeel Sittu, Cory Oliver, and Benjamin Onyango.  Hadeel Sittu, Cory Oliver and Benjamin Onyango gave standout performances.  For more on the cast and the movie, go to:

To quote a Children's Pastor that, coincidentally, was in the same showing of the film that I attended, "The acting in God's Not Dead was better than any other faith-based film that has come out yet."  My thoughts, exactly.  For having the low budget this film had, the film is doing surprisingly well and took in 8.5 million in its opening weekend (Friday-Sunday), and come in 5th place.  I have a feeling it will continue to do well, and look forward to seeing more movies like this in Hollywood.

Kevin Sorbo, who plays Professor Radisson, told the Christian Science Monitor in an interview on March 24, 2014:
The silent majority is starting to get annoyed with what’s going on . . . I think more people need to start speaking about it instead of just sitting there and taking it . . . It’s happening; you’re getting attacked; you need to stand up for yourself and your beliefs.
If your faith were to be questioned, would you know how to defend it?

". . . Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."  (1 Peter 3:15, NIV)

Christians - I recommend this film so highly.  You will be thrilled with it. If you are not a Christian - I recommend this film even more, gently and respectfully.  I love and respect all people for who they are, no matter what race, color, creed, orientation, political view or religion.  This is just a great film and I would not want anyone to miss out.
